Motivation
Flashbots is onboarding searchers inside TEEs to deliver better MEV refunds for Protect transactions using fast mode.
Running inside TEE sandboxes allows searchers to receive the user’s full transaction information without exposing the user to frontrunning risk. Receiving full information allows TEE searchers to more efficiently compute arbitrages, leading to better refunds for orderflow originators.
Changes
Fast mode transactions will be shared with searchers inside TEEs in addition to existing MEV-Share searchers. Privacy expectations will be updated as a result of this feature.
- Previous expectation: Orderflow originators specified the fields of transaction information (hints) that could be shared and full transaction information would never be revealed for failed / reverted transactions
- New expectation: For transactions routed through Protect fast mode, TEE searchers will receive full transaction fields except the signature (v, r, s), and will be able to see full transaction information (including for failed / reverted transactions) with a 5-minute delay for better debugging and troubleshooting. Existing MEV-Share searchers will continue to receive hints as they have previously.
Non-fast mode transactions will not be impacted and will continue to be shared with existing MEV-Share searchers only.
Launching on September 2nd, 2025
TEE searching on Protect fast mode flow will roll out on September 2nd, 2025 with four searchers.
Searchers who wish to integrate should visit this documentation. We will measure and evaluate the results of this feature and iterate accordingly.
