Are existing consensus protocols censorship resistant, or do we need a new one? A report from Common Prefix

Hey folks! Last month we completed a report on possible solutions for achieving efficiency and short-term censorship resistance on Suave.

We evaluate existing leader-based protocols and propose censorship-resistance solutions that can be implemented on top of them. We also explore existing parallel-leader and DAG-based protocols that achieve censorship resistance by construction. Finally, we review consensusless protocols and argue that they offer the best efficiency and censorship-resistance combination.

POD sounds interesting, but it is ignored in Section 5, leading me to believe it is not secure in the ByRa model. What results did you deduce for POD under bribery?

@orestis @Quintus @dmarz any info on this?

Broadly, CP is looking at commercialising PODs and we will work with them in arriving at a design that could work for us as well.

For your specific question, I don’t know, but I believe they’re still planning on publishing a paper that does a more comprehensive analysis of PODs
